Guard Your Heart! (…really?)”Scripture: Proverbs 4:23 and Philippians 4:6-7
This beautiful Psalm interpretation speaks of the guidance and healing we experience when God’s grace touches our hearts:

Psalm 25 – Excerpt by Nan Merrill in “Psalms for Praying”

To You, O Love, I lift up my soul! O Heart within my heart,  in You I place my trust. Yes! May all who open their hearts savor You and bless the earth!   Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for through You will I know wholeness; I shall reflect your Light both day and night.

The heart: the metaphorical seat of our feeling and conscience… and the source of our healing and wholeness. This Sunday, we’ll learn about the ancient biblical concepts of the heart as well as the current science behind heart “coherence” that opens us to God’s grace and our renewal.

And then we turn to summer: The summer solstice has arrived with longer days to brighten heavy hearts with hope and lightness of being. We turn with joy to family fun and play in nature. Even in the midst of sorrow and transition, God calls us to open our hearts, laugh and enjoy ourselves. Upcoming Summer service themes: “Popcorn Parables” and “God’s Recreation”!

Blessings in Christ,
Jan

WORSHIP NEWS: Happening this Sunday, June 30, 2019:

“GOOD GRIEF” SHARING GROUP FOR WOMEN —11:45AM in the FELLOWSHIP HALL: St. Andrew members and friends are invited to join with others in sharing our experiences with grief over Rich’s passing. We will break into small groups to talk about how we’re doing, and offer support to one another. This is one of the ways we can support one another as a community through this time of transition; we can do this periodically as desired. Just drop in—no need to RSVP

ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF DEACONS AND ELDERS: During our 9:00AM worship service, we will be conducting the Ordination and Installation of our Deacons and Elders who begin their service this fiscal year, beginning July 1st.

WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS: During our 10:30AM worship service, we’ll be welcoming two new members to St. Andrew!

WANT TO HAVE A LIFE CHANGING IMPACT ON A SONOMA VALLEY TEEN? We’ll hear a special presentation during both worship services from representatives of Young Life during our “Moment for Mission”. We’ll learn a bit about Young Life and how we may be able to financially support a local teen as they work to pay their way to Young Life Camp. Camp is July 20-26 in Challenge, CA at Woodleaf – one of Young Life’s premier camp destinations. More details on Sunday…
