We’ve recently come across the Netflix series, Our Planet. This series invites us to, “Experience our planet’s natural beauty and examine how climate change impacts all living creatures in this ambitious documentary of spectacular scope, using exhilarating visuals and stunning footage of rarely-seen animals mixed with somber truths about humanity’s impact on the planet’s habitats and species.”

We invite you to check out this series on Netflix: Our Planet

With the recent wildfires, there doesn’t seem to be anything but bad news with respect to Climate Change. But there is actually a lot of good news and there are many things we can all do to help the environment. We will be sharing some of these Good News stories and some Green Tips in bi-weekly installments. May this instill a little hope for our future.

Good News: All 10 University of California campuses will eliminate single-use plastic by 2030!

Green Tip #1: Did you know that you can put paper towels, bones, hair, and even fur in your Recology green yard waste bin? Consider keeping a small compost container on your kitchen counter (with a biodegradable bag liner) to collect food waste, then just empty it into your green bin.

Thank you! And if you have any Good News or Green Tips, pass them along to Eileen Haflich through the church office at [email protected]

Greetings St Andrew Riders,

I know the air quality has been prohibitive for outdoor activities lately, but it’s not too late to think about riding your bike (road, mountain, or stationary!) for “Homespin” (Pedal for Protein) next week (Sept 21-26). We are dedicating this congregational ride to the memory of the master rider: Pastor Rich Gantenbein.

Pedal for Protein is a fundraiser which collects money for purchase of protein based foods for Northern California food banks. The economic fall out of Covid-19 has created unprecedented demand at all food banks. Food banks are always chronically short of protein. This fundraiser helps provide balanced food for our neediest neighbors.

We sincerely hope you will step up and ride your bike and/or pledge to donate in any amount to this important fundraiser.

One of our St. Andrew families has generously offered to match all Pedal for Protein donations! Additionally, we have one family who has offered a per mile pledge:

If you’d like to make a per mile pledge too, please send your pledges to [email protected]

To make a donation of any amount, Follow this link to donate electronically to Pedal for Protein. Or, mail a check to St. Andrew / drop your envelope into our mail box: 16290 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476. Please write “P4P” on the memo line of your donation check.

Please continue your giving during this time, so that St. Andrew may continue to serve our local community and our membership. We recognize that some of you have been impacted financially by economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. For those of you who can, please continue to give on a regular basis.

There are several options available:

  • Give electronically to the St. Andrew General Fund
  • Set up your donation to St. Andrew to be paid through your bill paying service at your personal bank.
  • Mail a check to St. Andrew, or drop your envelope into our locked mail box: 16290 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476
