Join a new short-term group for
community, conversation and learning!

Dear Friends,

Responding to your requests, St. Andrew is forming groups for conversation and learning. This is an opportunity to get to know people better in our church community while finding support and exploring new horizons. Each small group will meet for 4-5 weeks, at a time convenient to the participants.

Popcorn Parables are back this summer! During August, sermons will center on the gospel message in upbeat and inspirational movies. Because of social distancing, we won’t be gathering for movie watching; instead, we will indicate where you can view these movies online. Even if you can’t watch the movie beforehand, each sermon will provide a review of the plot so you don’t miss a thing. Note: Some of these movies have mature topics and raw language but the sermons will be rated PG!

This Sunday, we’ll explore the gospel message in Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, with Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker. The film received eight Academy Award nominations, and won Best Actress (Lawrence). It was the first film in 31 years to be nominated in all four acting categories. This heart-warming movie has serious themes, but also plenty of funny moments and silver linings! The two protagonists face tough times due to their mental health challenges but are bolstered by their friends and family, and by their own hopefulness, self-agency, self-love and each other.

Official trailer: You can watch the trailer to this film by pressing the arrow below:

Silver Linings Playbook
2 hours long
Netflix or rent on Amazon Prime
Rated R for frequent strong language, some talk about sexual situations and prescription drugs, and one violent beating. Sermon video clips will be almost PG

Dear Friends, we are sad (and happy!) to let you know that Amos Munoz is on to greener pastures. Here is his exciting update for the congregation. We miss the band under his leadership and yet are very grateful for his gifted musical leadership and the community he formed with the band. Here is Amos’ message:

“Here are my plans… I will be moving out to Bodega Bay effective 9/1/20. I will be renting my home in Agua Caliente. Debra and I are to be married on 10/3/20.
Our new home is being built in Reno, NV (about 10 miles south of the airport). We expect to move there some time in January 2021. We will keep the Bodega Bay home. I will probably retire by mid-year 2021.
I will miss the people at St. Andrew. The people there are great!”
Much love, Amos
