St. Andrew Singers Covenant

As members of The St. Andrew Singers, we recognize and embrace the wonderful responsibilities we have been given as messengers of the love and grace of Christ – the message of the Gospel. In accepting this covenant, we take seriously a commitment to three basic responsibilities:

A RESPONSIBILITY TO GOD. God has entrusted us to share the most wonderful message of all. We will sing with faith in our hearts and a smile on our lips. We recognize and rejoice in the talent that God has seen fit to entrust to each of us. And we acknowledge that even in the context of this group, God has chosen to give each of us a variety of talents. While some might be blessed with a beautiful voice, others have been blessed with the gift of encouragement, or patience, or perseverance. Having been given these gifts, we recognize our responsibility to use them in a manner most pleasing to God. Because we are leaders in the act of worship, we delight in the awesome task of being God’s messengers through the art of music.

A RESPONSIBILITY TO THE CONGREGATION. As members of St. Andrew Singers we are excited about touching souls and moving hearts through the ministry of music. We will constantly strive to lead the congregation with a joyful heart, an attentive spirit and an encouraging smile. In all humility, we also recognize that as leaders, the congregation looks to us as examples. We will do our utmost to live a life that best exemplifies one committed to Jesus and His teachings. We will live a life of prayer; asking for God’s forgiveness, guidance and patience as we seek to demonstrate a life saved by Jesus, our Savior.

A RESPONSIBILITY TO EACH OTHER. We are a small group within the larger church family. We will love and support each other. We will cheer for each other, pray for each other, listen attentively to each other and remind each other of the significant contributions we make to the proclamation of the Gospel. We will never minimize our importance to the group. Whether a soloist or a non-music-reading follower, we can all communicate the saving love of Jesus. We will do our best to attend every rehearsal, knowing that more is accomplished than just learning notes. God is with us at every rehearsal, doing wonderful things in our souls. We love being together, whether to sing or to laugh or to cry. And we will pray together. Whether we sing our prayers, speak our prayers or pray in silence, we will constantly seek God’s guidance for the ministry of music.
