On the Scene Reports
The 2004 St. Andrew El Salvador Mission
Day 4: Oct. 14th, 2004
The container arrives, but not until four oclock! In the meantime we set to work erecting the ends of the building.
Mike is cutting the cement blocks to fit the doors.
Lynn, Brenda, Kymrie and Barbara spent most of the morning with the sewing students. They, with their teacher Patrice, are doing wonderfully well with little to work with. There are several boys who are doing a good job, too. At lunch, the villagers served us a very tasty chicken soup, barbecued chicken and tortillas. At 3PM we went to the soccer field to play a game of softball, but were interrupted by the arrival of the container.
We all dashed back and began unloading with many of the villagers participating. We packed everything into the storage area for the night knowing that we had a lot of exciting work ahead of us tomorrow.
One small problem: The container truck got stuck in the soft ground from the rain storm that we had the other day. It took about an hour and a half to get him on his way with lots of prayer and cooperation from all sides. Although frustrating, it gave us all a better sense of working together. What a day!
