St. Andrew Junior High Youth Group (6th – 8th Grade)

Our mission is to raise the next generation of Christian leaders. We do this by providing a safe place to explore who God is, how He is at work in our lives, and how we can look to Him for the guidance and love we need for our lives everyday.

Lunch 12:15-1pm, Worship 1-1:15pm, Small Group Study 1:20-1:50, Game: 1:55-2:30

Bible Study:

“What’s So Amazing About Grace”; The Story/Teen Edition- The bible in novel form with questions after each chapter for discussions.

It’s a time to discover how God’s word applies to life today.

Expectations for Junior and Senior High Youth Groups

St. Andrew Junior High Youth Group is for grades 6-8. During the school year, we offer weekly meetings. The meeting time includes fellowship, recreation, worship, prayer and discussion-based Bible Study. In everything we do we try to relate the Bible and it’s teachings to everyday life.

We also do service projects, Christian concerts and special events as we learn to serve God, his Church, and others–all while having a good time!

Calendar for Jr High Youth Group 2011- 2012

JR. HIGH YOUTH GROUP ACTIVITIES

Regular meetings every Sunday—10:45-12:00 Noon

Sept.

18- Scandia 10:45am-3:30pm, $10 + lunch money (bring one friend for free, each additional friend is $10 + lunch money)

25 – Car Wash 7am to 1pm (6th – 12th Grades, parents included) No Bible Study or Youth Group on this day. Snacks will be provided.

28 – Wednesday, SEE YOU AT THE POLE, at each school, a global day of prayer that youth lead. This years theme is: Converge

Oct.

8-Rock of Ages, $15, 9am to 9pm (approximate) at Napa Fair Grounds. A full day of Christian events and music. Bring money for lunch and dinner.

9 – Faith in Action. A day when the church goes out into the community to serve, followed by a celebration at 5pm.

Nov.

20-Thanksgiving basket shopping 10:45am-2:30pm, $5 Shop for 2 families in our valley and deliver to their home.

Dec.

Dec 4th Free To Be- 1-2pm (during Youth Group) Presentation to help equip 6-8th graders in building healthy relationships. Youth learn to identify the characteristics of various levels of friendships, the difference between love and infatuation, and what sexual abstinence is about. Help in the conference room.

18- Christmas Party 12:15-2:30pm. Pot luck, songs, story and Elephant Exchange.

Jan.

Our Chili Cook-Off and Fundraiser was a fun contest to see who makes the best chili! Chili Cook-off participants raised $340!

Money went into Youth Restricted and will be used for Bowling Night or a future Jr High event. Spencer won 1st prize, a $10 I Tunes card!

 

Jan 21-22nd  Glide/Sleepover- We have 20 spaces reserved for serving breakfast to the homeless and attending Worship Service in SF through Glide. We will meet at St Andrew at 6pm (Sat), talk about serving, wake up at 5am, drive to SF and serve breakfast from 7-9am. We will then attend the 9am Worship Service. On our way home, we will stop for lunch and arrive back at St Andrew at 1pm. Contact Dawne to reserve your spot. Extra liability forms required-from Glide.

 

Feb.

Postponed – House of Air, San Francisco a 6th – 12th Grade event. $15 plus money for dinner at In’N Out Burger. Each participant MUST have a waiver from House of Air.

3-4: Bowling Night / Overnighter, meet at church at 7pm on Friday the 3rd, pick up at 10am on the 4th. 7pm-8:30am, $30 (includes ticket and food). In’N Out Burger, Petaluma Bowl, Sleepover; trophies for the best team score; best male score and best female score; worst team score.

24 – 26:  30 Hour Famine (8th Grade only) Friday at 11pm through Sunday at 12pm. A juice fast to raise awareness of world hunger and the challenges surrounding poverty. Youth share experience in the Sunday services.

March

16: HOUSE OF AIR—We will leave St. Andrew at 5:30, jump 7-8 PM, eat at In-N-Out Burger and return to the church by 11:00 PM.  Crazy dress this year!  Winner will receive a $10 iTunes card. If interested in going, please bring $15 and the House of Air Waiver to Dawne no later than March 11th.


29: CROP WALK
—12:00-2:00 PM.  Walking around Sonoma to raise money and awareness for hunger. Details to follow.

April

8: Easter Sunrise Service (8th graders) Saturday 6pm through Sunday 7:30am. Plan and facilitate Easter Sunrise Service on the patio.

21st or 22nd: COTS Check back for more info on help with weed pulling, a food box program and clean up helpers.

May

TBA – Crop Walk, a walk around Sonoma. Help to raise money for our own valley, as well as those around the world in need.

June

21 – 23: Spirit West Coast, a time of music, worship, games and camping! more info to follow!
